"Libraries and Societies Connect: Strengthening the Bonds Through Community Outreach" |
Sri Lanka Library Association has organized the National Conference on Library & Information Science (NACLIS) - 2024, which especially focuses on state-sector libraries and library professionals who work in local languages from different locations. We view this as a stepping stone for the future development of a research culture, among the librarians of public, school, and special categories. Hence, NACLIS 2024 will be held in two sessions, in two different provinces. NACLIS Session 1 will be held at the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka which mainly focuses on Tamil-speaking public and school librarians located in Northern and Eastern Provinces, but not limited to. NACLIS Session 2 will be held in the Gampaha District of Western Province, at the Gampaha Public Library which provides a platform for Sinhala-speaking public and school librarians to discuss their research findings, good practices, issues, and trends. Both sessions will anticipate the paper presenters in English, too. This year’s theme allows LIS professionals and researchers to think about how libraries can strengthen the bond with societies through library services, collections, programmes, and space to meet the needs of the present generation. The proposed theme intends to showcase the status of our regional libraries and to find strategies on how libraries can provide innovative services, equitable access to information, and developing collections amidst various types of challenges such as pandemics, economic, financial, and disasters to meet the needs of the society. Contributors and Participants Public, school, special, LIS Faculty, Library Scientists, Documentation officers, Archivists, LIS students, and university library professionals are encouraged to contribute by submission of papers. Authors can consider the subtopics categorized under the main theme of the conference. The original, unpublished, quality abstracts will be published in the proceedings, after a peer review process, and the author/s will be invited for presentation. |
